Mary Gende, MSW
Staff Therapist, licensed professional educator (PEL)
(Pronouns: She/Her/Hers)
Hello! I’m Mary Gende, and I specialize in working with kids, adolescents and families. I have worked in an elementary school setting for several years helping students address emotional regulation, social skills, anxiety management, grief management, depression, suicidal thoughts, and more.
I am passionate about helping people of all ages gain the necessary tools to cope with life’s ups and downs, because I believe that with time and support, we are all capable of managing stress and distress, along with any other emotions we may encounter. Because of my experience in an elementary school setting, I understand the importance of becoming comfortable with our mental health needs from an early age, and I understand how our behavior and nonverbal communication are influenced by our wants and needs.
I am dedicated to helping my clients build their self-confidence, manage symptoms of anxiety, increase communication skills, develop regulation skills, and more. It is important to me that I take time to understand the whole person and their individual strengths and struggles to provide the best support possible towards my clients.
Prior to joining the Hartman team, I earned my Master’s degree in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago, with a specialization in school social work. I graduated from University of Wisconsin-Madison with a dual degree in Social Work and Psychology.
