Peter Yibo Pan
Therapist-in-training
(Pronouns: He/Him/His)
I’m Peter, a clinical counseling therapist-in-training, specializing in working with children, adolescents, and immigrant families. I practice an integrative, evidence-based approach, combining humanistic, gestalt, and behavioral elements of traditional therapy. I also utilize nontraditional interventions such as play therapy, creating a safe and positive environment for building a trusting therapeutic relationship.
My prior research experience and clinical work gave me insight on working with non native populations, immigrants, asylees and refugees. My work with immigration legal support gave me a first hand view on the experience of migrants in the Chicagoland area, affirming my passion for enhancing healing through respect, storytelling, and mutual learning. I have a client-centered style focused on providing an unconditionally positive environment with no judgment. I believe that through trust we can earn respect, and through collaboration we receive healing.
I received my Bachelor of Art degree in Developmental Psychology from the University of Chicago, along with a minor in Human Rights studies. I am currently in a Master’s program in counseling at Northwestern University with a specialization in counseling with children and adolescents. Prior to beginning my work at Hartman Counseling + Consulting I worked through The Family Institute with clients facing depression, anxiety, difficulty with intimate relationships, and career-related stress.
