Megan Dormin
STAFF THERAPIST, LCPC
(Pronouns: She/Her/Hers)
I’m Megan, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor offering a safe and validating space to explore anxiety, trauma, and more. I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and young adults. Although contacting a therapist can feel scary, it is a huge milestone toward feeling better.
Prior to coming to HCC, I earned a Master’s degree in counseling from Northwestern University, specializing in counseling for children and adolescents, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a dual degree in Social Work and Psychology. I have worked and interned in several school settings, including high school, middle school, elementary and Montessori schools.
My experience in early education, schools, and community organizations has affirmed the importance of supporting the mental health of children and adolescents and has strengthened my desire to work with children, adolescents, and emerging adults.
In addition to kids and families, I am committed to helping clients of all ages and life stages cope with a variety of mental health challenges, from managing relationships, improving communication and self-regulation, to generalized anxiety and depression. Working from a client-centered perspective, supplemented with cognitive-behavioral techniques, I aim to help clients feel heard and validated in their struggles. To me, respect and understanding are foundational to helping clients heal. I believe that meeting each client where they are is so important in the therapeutic process, considering factors such as race, gender, and socioeconomic status.
